weekly DNB sets during the WORD’N’BASS Show.

Science, Metalheadz and Good Looking among others, recently played the
regular party Respect in Los Angeles -- which DrumNBass TV put online

Nobel laureat Alexander Solzhenitsyn: 1918-2008
Russian novelist and winner of the Nobel Prize for literature Alexander Solzhenitsyn has died at
age 89, Russian news agency Interfax reported late Sunday (Aug. 3).
Winning the Nobel Prize for literature in 1970 for his books "The First
Circle" and "Cancer Ward" landed him worldwide acclaim, but his
three-volume work "The Gulag Archipelago" about the Soviet prison camp
system caused an uproar in his native Russia. In 1974, Solzhenitsyn was
stripped of his citizenship, deported to West Germany and ended up in
the USA. In an interesting local angle, he taught at Stanford
University in Palo Alto before eventually settling in Vermont.
Solzhenitsyn returned to Russia in 1994 but still has family who are
American citizens. Learn more about Solzhenitsyn in his own words at

Legendary novelist Kurt
Vonnegut: 1922-2007
Literary novelist Kurt Vonnegut
has died at age 84 in Manhattan. Vonnegut, one of America’s most
celebrated authors for his sardonic, oftentimes bizarre writing, died
on Wednesday, April 12, weeks after sustaining a brain injury during a
fall. Vonnegut’s debut novel Player Piano
was published in 1952, and his best-known novel, Slaughterhouse-Five,
came in 1969. When Vonnegut served in World War II, he was captured by
the Germans and imprisoned in Dresden, a city American forces bombed to
bits in a prolonged attack that killed over 100,000 people.
Slaughterhouse-Five, widely considered one of the best American novels
ever, was named after a freezer in which he and other POWs hid during
the bombings. WORD’N’BASS.com sends condolences and best wishes to
Vonnegut’s family.

ventures into a debut with Warner Books. The setting of his novel, 'Con

‘Con Ed’ author Matthew Klein
trades in venture capital for pen and paper
It’s been years since the phrase "dot-bomb" became America’s catch
