BASS:
San Francisco's second Flux Summit happens January 21
Edited Press Release
Flux Summit, a free quarterly electronic music industry event featuring
discussions on current industry topics, a cocktail party, and a music
review session, takes place this Thursday, Jan. 21 in San Francisco. In
addition to the discussion and mixer, an integral part of the summit is
Test Press, a music review session for DJs, producers and artists in
front of top industry experts.
The topic for the second Flux Summit, which takes place at Pyramind
Studios at 832 Folsom Street in San Francisco, is "What's Shaking Down
SF Music Venues?"
Venues, artists
and musicians who spend their lives dedicated to music -- and the fans
who enjoy it -- are being threatened by the actions of the California
Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC). Thursday's discussion will bring
together top representatives in San Francisco’s music nightlife
including club owners and political figures to explore and debate these
issues.
Attendees will learn about the challenges facing the electronic music
community and find out how they can get involved. The discussion will
be moderated by Michael Winger,
Recording Academy SF Chapter Secretary. Other speakers include Debra Walker (candidate for SF
District 6 Supervisor and advisor of the SF Music and Sustainability
policy), Terrance Alan (SF
Entertainment Commission Founding President), Mark Rennie (Entertainment Law
Specialist) and Tim Benetti
(co-owner of nightclub, Bottom of the Hill).
The debut event held this past October focused the discussion on "21st
Century PR & Marketing," and was moderated by Tomas Palermo with
speakers from Om Records (DJ/producer, J. Boogie), IODA, Terrorbird
Media and IDC. View a great roundup video on the Flux Summit website.
In addition to the discussion and mixer, an integral part of the summit
is Test Press, the music review session that enables DJs, producers and
artists to gain instant feedback on their music from top industry
experts. Past industry experts include representatives from Microsoft
Zune, Ingrooves, Om Records, XLR8R, Amoeba Records, and Pandora. Test
Press is currently accepting track submissions for consideration
directly through the Flux Summit website.
With the music industry rapidly changing, Flux was created to encourage
interaction and open up discussion on emerging trends in the electronic
music community. Flux Summit is a free event but, RSVP is required and
capacity is limited. For more information and to RSVP visit the Flux Summit
website.
