BASS:
House, DNB, global beats among LoveFest 2008 Afterparties
Thousands
of electronic dance music fans, DJs, and industry
participants are parading through San Fransisco’s Market Street today
(Saturday, Oct. 4) to the Civic Center, where the fifth year of a
tradition that started with LoveParade continues through LoveFest 2008.
When The City shuts down the gridlock of bass-bumping floats, there are
dozens of afterparties taking place in San Francisco. Here are a few
party announcements we received.
All parties run
from Saturday night, Oct. 4 through Sunday morning and are in San
Francisco. Age 21-and-up unless otherwise noted.
After a full day of House, Techno and Drum & Bass, a good way to
mix up the day’s beats is had catching the LoveParade Afterparty with
Hookahdome Burning Man Camp, where they’ll have globally influenced
dance music with Karsh Kale, Janaka
Selektra, Radiohiro, Global Ruckus, and more DJs performing at
Club Six, located at 58 Tehama. The event features a separate chill out
room with a full service Hookah Lounge. The party goes from 10 pm to 4
am with a $15 cover.
If you’re still looking to get your Drum & Bass groove on, MC Duh, Colonel MC and Manny Vibes host the Official Bay
Area Drum & Bass Afterparty at Anu, located at 43 6th Street, just
blocks from the Civic Center. Some performers include Bachelors of Science, Method One vs.
Kuze, Aye’n, Canadub, and various other
local DNB spinners. This party goes from 8:30 pm to 2 am and has just a
$5 cover.
The
Official Fifth Annual SF LoveFest Afterparty produced by Spundae &
Skills happens at the Bill Graham Civic Center, where Armin Van Buuren (pictured left)
headlines with several of the world’s biggest names also playing on two
stages. The event includes performances by Above & Beyond, ATB, Colette,
and many others just down the street from where LoveFest ends. This
18-and-up party has an $80 cover at the door.
A Breaks party
happens After The Love at Mighty from 9 pm to 5 am Sunday, where Aquasky and Plaza de Funk headline a party put
on by the Seismic Crew with Samira,
Trav and Brett Pinkin also playing sets. Cover is $20 at the
door until midnight, or you can get last second pre-sale tickets for
$15 at the Seismic website.
Mighty is at 119 Utah St at 15th.
Everyone please
designate a driver tonight to ensure a safe trip home.
