BASS: Armin Van Buuren to headline SF LoveFest; BADNB benefit parties announced

Armin Van BuurenThe Fifth Annual SF LoveFest will take over downtown San Francisco on October 4, 2008 and Armin Van Buuren (pictured left) will appear in the festival and headline the Official After Party produced by Spundae & Skills, event organizers announced. America's biggest dance celebration will feature many of the biggest names in electronic music as well as the usual Bay Area Drum & Bass presence. Separately, BADNB announced they’re holding a series of benefit parties to cover the cost of their float from now through October.

Landing Armin Van Buuren, the #1 DJ in the world according to a DJ Mag poll and widely considered one of today's most skillful Trance DJs, was somewhat of a coup for SF LoveFest, which had Paul van Dyk pull out of the 2005 event at the last minute. With less than two months to go, many other names have also trickled in that are appearing during SF LoveFest weekend.

Some major artists scheduled to perform include DJ Dan, ATB, Adam Freeland, Donald Glaude, Elite Force, Lee Burridge, Benny Benassi, Aquasky, Kaskade, Vandal, DJ Medhi, among many others.

The parade kicks off at 12 noon on Saturday, Oct. 4, starting on Market Street and 2nd Street and the 25 floats representing electric music genres and crews from around the world will wind down Market Street to Civic Center Plaza - the same route as last year.

If you’re arriving from out of town, SF LoveFest are recommending you make travel arrangements ASAP as there is a large convention in town that weekend making it difficult for them to hook up with travel deals and hotel accommodations could book up.

LoveWeek starts on Wednesday, October 1, with official and affiliated events every night through the parade, festival, after parties, and into Sunday. Event organizers are also asking folks to consider Volunteering for the event, you can read about the options here.

Also, Bay Area Drum & Bass said they’re holding a series of benefit parties to cover the cost of their float from now through October. This Tuesday (August 19) Manny Vibes will host a party at The Underground SF with Diatrybe, Canadub and The Heights performing during the regular Shelter event. All proceeds will go toward SF LoveFest costs. There is a $5 cover for this 21 and over event. Underground SF is located at 424 Haight Street at the corner of Webster.

There are dozens of affiliated as well as unofficial SF LoveFest-themed events happening throughout the week, which we’ll update as party announcements come in and the 2008 event approaches. To announce your party simply contact us for inclusion in the next update.
