Backspace Writer’s Conference starts May 31; scholarship winners
announced
The annual Backspace Writer’s Conference will take place at the
Algonquin Hotel in Manhattan from Thursday, May 31 to Friday, June 1.
The event, which brings together best-selling authors, top literary
agents and editors for a two-day, two-track event with panel
discussions, workshops and socializing, will feature Publisher’s Lunch
founder Michael Cader and
author David Morrell as key
note speakers.
Among the authors
speaking at the conference are Joseph
Finder, Jim Fusilli, Adrienne
Brodeur and Backspace founder Karen Dionne,
who recently had her debut novel sold by literary agent Jeff Kleinman.
A bevy of top literary agents will also speak. Kleinman, Scott Hoffman and Paige Wheeler of Folio Literary
Management, as well as Katherine
Fausset of Curtis Brown Literary Agency, Michael Bourret (Dystel &
Goderich Literary Management) and Alex
Glass (Trident Media Group) are just a few of the agents
rounding out the lineup.
Registration for the conference is $315 for Backspace members and $355
for non-members. This year, an anonymous donor paid full-tuition
scholarship to contest winners Allison Johnson and Torrey Meeks, who will attend the
conference for free, Backspace announced.
